Notice the language
Use this pattern to show that one action is done instead of another. Attach -는 대신 to a verb stem. It is useful when you want to contrast two choices or say that one action replaces another. Example: 경기에 집중하는 대신 사람들의 감정과 팀워크를 이해하려 노력했어요.
