화요일 아침, 나는 도시에 새로 생긴 옷 가게에 갔어요. 가게는 밝고 시원했어요. 옷들이 색색깔로 많았고, 나는 재킷을 보고 마음에 들었어요.

Notice the language
Add -아/어 보다 to a verb stem to mean "try doing" something. It is useful for new actions, testing something, or making an attempt. In the story, 입어 보려고 했는데 means "I was going to try on" the jacket. Example: 재킷을 입어 봤어요. = "I tried on the jacket."
