Nunca pensé que una compra tan simple pudiera desencadenar tantas preguntas.

Soy Elena, y aquella tarde fui al mercado local en busca de una mesa antigua para mi estudio. Entre los puestos llenos de objetos variados, un pequeño reloj llamó mi atención. No funcionaba, pero tenía un encanto especial.

El vendedor, un hombre canoso llamado Joaquín, notó mi interés y comenzó a contarme historias sobre el reloj: supuestamente pertenecía a un relojero que nunca logró ponerlo en hora.

Lo compré, atraída por la idea de tener en mis manos un objeto con tanto misterio. Al llegar a casa intenté darle cuerda, pero nada cambió; el reloj seguía detenido en las once y cuarenta y tres.

Durante días lo observé con atención. Me preguntaba por qué aquel reloj parecía rehusarse a cumplir su función, a marcar el paso del tiempo. Sentía que me hablaba de algo más profundo, de los momentos que no podemos controlar.

No busqué a nadie para repararlo. En vez de eso, decidí dejarlo en mi estantería como un recordatorio silencioso: no todo necesita funcionar para tener valor, ni todo momento debe ser medido.

Así, aquel objeto inerte se convirtió en parte de mi rutina diaria, una pausa tangible en medio del ritmo incesante de la vida, y una invitación a apreciar los tiempos no dictados por el tic tac de un reloj.

No sé si algún día repararán ese reloj, ni siquiera si quiero que lo hagan. A veces, la belleza está en lo que permanece detenido.

This paired negative structure is useful for making balanced generalizations in Spanish. It means something like "not everything ..." and "not every ..." in a reflective, non-absolute way. Writers use it to sound measured and thoughtful, especially when contrasting usefulness with value. Example: "No todo necesita funcionar para tener valor, ni todo momento debe ser medido."
