De markt is druk en kleurrijk. Nu loopt Bas met zijn moeder tussen de kraampjes. Hij wil chocolade kopen.
Bas ziet een kraam met veel snoep. Hij vraagt: "Mag ik hier iets kopen?"
De vrouw achter de kraam lacht en zegt: "Ja, maar je moet zelf kiezen."
Bas zoekt iets lekkers uit. Hij kiest een grote reep chocolade. Dan wil hij ook nog iets fruit.
Ze gaan naar een fruitkraam. Bas wijst naar appels en bananen. De man zegt: "Alles is vers en lekker!"
Bas wil een appel, maar zijn moeder zegt: "We kopen maar een stuk fruit, want je hebt al chocolade."
Bas denkt na en kiest een banaan. Hij betaalt met munten. Even voelt hij dat hij iets geleerd heeft.
Terug in de zon zegt Bas: "Shoppen is leuk, maar soms moet je kiezen."
Ze lopen samen weg, tevreden over het bezoek aan de markt.

Use je moet + infinitive to say that something is necessary or required. In the story, "je moet zelf kiezen" means that Bas is required to make the choice himself. You can reuse this pattern in simple sentences like "Je moet eerst betalen.".
