في صباح يوم مشمس، قرر سامي وأخته ليلى أن يذهبا في رحلة إلى الغابة القريبة من قريتهم.
كانت الأشجار كبيرة وخضراء، والطيور تغني بصوت جميل في الهواء الطلق. شعروا بالهدوء والسلام في هذا المكان الطبيعي.
سامي كان يحمل كاميرا ليصور بعض الصور للزهور والحيوانات الصغيرة التي رآوها في الطريق. أما ليلى، فكانت تستمتع بجمع بعض الأوراق الملونة التي تسقط من الأشجار.

Notice the language
Use كان/كانت + a present-tense verb to describe an action that was already in progress in the past. It often gives background information before another event happens. You can reuse it in many stories and descriptions. Example: كان الأطفال يمشون حول البحيرة عندما بدأ المطر.
