Language notes

grammar

no es X, sino Y

Use this pattern to contrast two ideas and emphasize the second one. It means 'not X, but rather Y.' The structure is very useful in explanations and opinions, and it appears in the story to contrast treasure with facing the unknown. It means it is not a problem, but an opportunity to learn.

It is not a problem, but an opportunity to learn.
