Heute ist Emilias Geburtstag. Sie ist neun Jahre alt und wohnt in einem kleinen Haus am See.
Am Morgen wacht Emilia auf und hört Kinderstimmen draußen. Sie denkt, ihre Freunde sind gekommen, um zu feiern.
Sie läuft zum Fenster und sieht einen klaren Himmel. Aber niemand ist da. Emilia fühlt sich ein bisschen traurig.
Plötzlich klingelt das Telefon. Es ist ihre Mutter. "Wir haben heute einen besonderen Tag," sagt sie. "Du sollst dich schön anziehen."
Emilia zieht ein rotes Kleid an. Ihre Mutter bringt sie in den Park. Dort wartet niemand außer einem Mann mit einem großen Korb.
Der Mann zeigt Emilia viele bunte Ballons und kleine Kuchen. Er sagt: "Ich bin ein Clown und ich habe eine Geburtstagsüberraschung für dich."
Emilia lächelt und vergisst die Kinder draußen. Sie spielt mit dem Clown, lacht und isst Kuchen.
Am Ende des Tages fühlt sich Emilia glücklich. Sie hat eine ungewöhnliche Party erlebt und mag die Überraschung sehr.

Notice the language
German uses the reflexive pattern sich ... anziehen when someone gets dressed themselves. The reflexive pronoun changes with the subject: ich ziehe mich an, du ziehst dich an, er/sie zieht sich an. Example: Ich ziehe mich warm an, weil es kalt ist.
Ich ziehe mich warm an, weil es kalt ist.
I get dressed warmly because it is cold.
