Notice the language
This pattern means "can" or "be able to." Add -을 수 있다 after a verb stem ending in a consonant, and -ㄹ 수 있다 after a verb stem ending in a vowel. In the story, it appears in "전화도 받을 수 있다" and "운동도 기록할 수 있다," where it shows ability or possibility. You can reuse it in many daily sentences, for example: "저는 오늘 일찍 집에 갈 수 있어요."
저는 오늘 일찍 집에 갈 수 있어요.
