The River’s Silence

Every evening, Tom walked along the river near his village, listening to the flowing water and watching the birds returning home.

One day, he noticed the river moving slower than usual. The water was quiet and still. Tom’s heart grew heavy. He remembered how lively the river was during last spring, full of energy and sound.

He asked the villagers if they had seen anything strange. Some said the rain had been less this year, while others mentioned a new factory upstream. Everyone seemed worried, but no one knew exactly what was happening.

Tom decided to watch the river carefully every day, writing notes about the changes. He even took pictures to show others. The river’s silence was a quiet warning, but it also made Tom think deeply about how nature depends on many things—and people.

Weeks passed, and the river slowly started moving again, though not as fast as before. The birds came back, but fewer than usual. Tom knew the river would not be the same for a long time.
